Lake Effect is a family roots band from northern Michigan that has been delighting audiences near and far for nearly 30 years. With their tight family harmonies, hilarious original songs, traditional music, and deep understanding of how to engage audiences of all ages Lake Effect is a perfect storm for family fun with music.
LAKE EFFECT IS A SEASONED GROUP OF MUSICIANS WHOSE LOVE OF THE MUSIC IS ONLY SURPASSED FOR THEIR LOVE OF EACH OTHER.
Lake Effect consists of Tiyi Schippers on lap dulcimer and percussion, her husband, David Bunce on guitar and banjo, award winning singer and songwriter and daughter Rachael Davis on banjo, guitar, and ukulele, son Zak Bunce on doghouse bass, and good friends Barry Lempe, on guitar and kazoo, along with Bruce Ling, also of Hawks and Owls, on fiddle, mandolin, and flat picked guitar.
Lake Effect has performed in many settings both near and far, from school groups throughout Michigan, as well as, Nashville, Chicago and other locations—to festivals ranging from The Newport Folk Festival in Rhode Island to Michigan’s own Wheatland Music Festival, Hiawatha Music Festival, Blissfest, Hoxeyville Festival, The Fretboard Festival and more.
They have also played at concert venues from Gopherwood Concerts in Cadillac to The Ten Pound Fiddle in East Lansing, as well as community concert series across Michigan.
